François Seignouret was a celebrated French artist who emigrated to the United States in the early 1800s. In 1830 he decided to share his love of fine living and introduced wines from Bordeaux to the United States. Over the next few decades, he brought in exceptional wines such as those from Châteaux Margaux, Lafite, Latour, and Haut-Brion. He was one of the earliest proponents of French wine in the USA. He eventually went back to France to set up his own winery. In the L’Esprit de Bacchus de Bordeaux, we can experience this little tour of history – combining the artistry of Bordeaux with the adventurous spirit of a successful immigrant businessman! Nearly two centuries after its creation by François Seignouret, the house brings together the same strengths: the power and vision of a merchant open to the world and intimate knowledge of the world of great wines.
